Terms of use
Effective 16 October 2026. These terms cover the Freehands app and the website at freehands.app, both provided by Wilddolphin LLC. The privacy policy is part of these terms.
The service
Freehands is a voice-first messaging app. You bring a homeserver, or someone in your household runs one. Early access is not open yet. Features can change before a public release. The app is provided as available. We do not promise that a particular phone, homeserver, or network will keep working without interruption.
Your account
You are responsible for the password and the phone that holds the encryption keys. You are also responsible for the homeserver you choose, including its operator’s rules. Do not share an account with a child under 13.
Acceptable use
Use Freehands to talk with people you mean to talk with. You may not use the app or the website to:
- Threaten, harass, or scam someone.
- Send spam or try to break into an account that is not yours.
- Share sexual content involving a child, or any other illegal content. That use is forbidden. We will report it to the relevant authority when the law requires it.
- Interfere with the app, a homeserver, or another person’s encryption keys.
The messages you write are yours. Sending them to someone else gives that person a copy on their phone. Do not send something you do not have the right to share.
Abuse
If someone misuses a chat, report it in the app and block them. You can also email info@wilddolphin.us. Steps are on the support page.
The homeserver operator can suspend an account under their own rules. Wilddolphin can refuse support, remove access to a build we distribute, or stop responding to a person who uses Freehands to harm someone. We do not read encrypted chats in order to police them. A report you file, or an email you send us, is the information we can act on.
Ending use
You can stop using the app at any time. Deleting the account is described in the privacy policy and on the support page. Signing out is not the same as deletion.
Limits
To the extent the law allows, Wilddolphin LLC is not liable for lost messages, a homeserver you do not control, or indirect damages. Some places do not allow these limits. In those places, the limits apply only as far as the law permits. These terms do not take away rights you cannot waive.
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Wilddolphin LLC is formed, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top will change. If you keep using the app after that date, the new terms apply to the new use.
